Surrounding area:
Garajau is located on the sunny, dry, southern coast of Madeira, the Garajau Penthouse is situated in the fashionable district of Garajau, midway between the airport, and the capital, Funchal. Taxi journey time to both is just 15 – 20 minutes.
Garajau has long been known to be one of Madeira’s high class residential areas and is named after the black-headed sea birds, terns, which nest in the cliffs.

Garajau’s high street combines the Hotel Dom Pedro Garajau on one side of the road and a bank (Barclays), a multitude of shops, bakeries, coffee shops, ice cream shop, a few patisseries and medium sized well stocked mini-markets with ATM outside, several restaurants, bars and apartments on the other.

Ponta do Garajau
Just below the village is a 200m high headland called Ponta do Garajau which is on the perimeter of the entry point to Funchal Bay, with its fine miradouro – a monumental statue of Christ with outstretched arms, erected in 1927 on the headland 200m above the sea. The statue is similar to the larger & more famous statues in Lisbon & Rio de Janeiro. It has good views west to the Bay of Funchal. Ponta do Garajau is a wonderful spot to watch the sun go down.

The section of sea by Ponta do Garajau is a conservation area – “Reserva Natural Parcial do Garajau”. It was one of Europe’s first underwater nature reserves and is a marine sanctuary for whales, dolphins and seals. It has a beautiful re-developed beach with a very nice cafe bar/ restaurant.

There is secure parking facilities for up to 2 cars. Although not essential, as in most villas, a hire car is recommended.
A baby cot and a high chair are available on request.

Cleaning:
Cleaning services during the stay, as well as the replacement of bed linen and towels, are carried out on a weekly basis. If you wish extra cleaning service this can be arrange at an extra charge.

Booking process:
The advertised prices are based on a 2-person occupancy and supplements apply should additional people join you.
To secure your reservation, a deposit of 25% is required, or the full amount if within 8 weeks of arrival, and the balance is due 1 week prior to arrival or on arrival. Should you cancel up to 4 weeks prior to arrival only the deposit is non-refundable, and within this period the full amount.
